I’m Áureo Cutillas. I’m one of the PhD candidates working in SUN-PERFORM in Wageningen University.
I’m working on the implementation of synthetic CO2 fixation pathways in microalgae, with the aim of improving the carbon assimilation and carbon fixation of these photosynthetic organisms.
One of the most interesting things from the SUN-PERFORM project is the multidisciplinary of the approach. And from a metabolic engineering point of view, it’s really interesting to tackle different efficiencies that we have in the metabolism of these photosynthetic organisms.
Or how can we tackle a big problem from different sites and be together and bridge different elements from the metabolism that usually are tackled separately, and how these joining forces together can lead to the emergence of a big improvement, or a big leap in the photosynthetic efficiency improvements for the production of solar fuels.
