My name is Yingying, I work for a SolarFoil. My background is in chemistry, materials and physics.
I did my PhD in China, and after that I did my postdoc in Denmark and also Amsterdam. After finishing the postdoc, at the University of Amsterdam, I joined SolarFoil in 2022.
So now it makes sense to talk about the role of SolarFoil inside the SUN-PERFORM project. SolarFoil basically worked together with University of Amsterdam at the beginning to develop a light recipe.
And this light recipe is going to be used and tested by the microalgae cultivation inside the lab conditions.
Once this light recipe has been proved useful, basically you can see the benefit from the light and the microalgae will have a high cultivation growth under these foils.
The next step is that SolarFoil will take charge of the upscaling. We will develop this recipe and work together with our to fabricate the foils in a large scale. So definitely larger than a A4 size.
So the first step we will be tested in Morocco. And that will be like two meters or five meters large.
If this, with the higher light conditions in Morocco, proves to be very useful for the microalgae there, then we’ll go to the next step and it can be 500 meters squared and even larger 2000 meters squared.
