The University of Amsterdam (Dutch: Universiteit van Amsterdam; abbreviated UvA), established in 1632, is one of the oldest universities still in operation. With over 31,000 students and 4,500 staff, it is the largest university in the Netherlands by enrollment. The university has strong international ties through membership in several organizations and is a leader in sustainability research, particularly in energy conversion and the circular economy.
Expertise
Through its Van der Waals-Zeeman Institute (WZI) for experimental physics, UvA has a strong history in light-converting nanomaterials. WZI specializes in fluorescent nanocrystal synthesis, polymer integration, and optical property optimization.
Role
UvA is developing the nanocrystal mixture that will be embedded in the foils of the light-harvesting system and producing small foils.
